Description
Ontario) and Montreal without any assistance. “There was a lot of saber rattling going on,” said John R. Grodzinski, a history professor at the Royal Military College of Canada, who specializes in the War of 1812.Yet despite its population advantage, the United States had only about 12,000 men in uniform, including “too many incompetent officers and too many raw, untrained recruits,” explained Donald R. Hickey, a history professor at Wayne State College and author of various books on the War of 1812. A number of other factors also favored Canada at the war’s outset. For one thing, the British controlled the Great Lakes and were therefore better able to move troops and supplies. Moreover, they received support from Canadians, who many Americans falsely believed would welcome them as liberators, and from Native American tribes worried about U.S. expansionism. “The USA was woefully unprepared,” Hickey said. “Plus, the logistical challenges of waging war on a distant frontier were daunting if not insuperable.”

When U.S. General William Hull assembled a force of about 2,000 men and led them to Detroit, the jumping-off point for an intended assault on nearby Fort Malden in Upper Canada, the British found out about his plans by seizing a schooner with his baggage and papers on it. To make matters worse for Hull, about 200 Ohio militiamen refused to go beyond American territory. The general nonetheless remained confident. On July 12, 1812, he took his men across the Detroit River and into Canada, where he immediately issued a written proclamation telling inhabitants that they would “be emancipated from tyranny and oppression.” “Had I any doubt of eventual success I might ask your assistance, but I do not,” Hull declared. “I come prepared for every contingency.”

These words proved immediately laughable. Hull briefly laid siege to Fort Malden but soon withdrew after warriors under the leadership of Shawnee chief Tecumseh intercepted his supply train. British commander Isaac Brock then chased the Americans back across the river and began launching cannon fire at Fort Detroit from the Canadian side. Brock arranged for a bogus document to reach the Americans that told of large numbers of Native Americans approaching Detroit.

I just think Obama was a globalist shill! The ongoing war in Syria was started by that twat,so was the destruction of Libya..He was a pointless, hollow little man who did nothing but cause trouble.A puppet for big business especially the saudi`s. His "wife" the tranny had ideas waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay above her station.Talk about delusions of relevance.

You DO have my best of intentions Dilhorne. I am not throwing a wobbly. I just don't see why British Isles would be a geographical term, when Britain is one island, and the other island is Ireland. Atlantic isles would be more accurate.

Oh I agree with you about everything you say about the royals...Not so much Trump. If I`m honest I prefer him to that slimy unctuous weasel Obama, shill and globalist that he is! Imagine if that rancid insane hag Clinton had won,we`d be in world war 3 about now.

lol mate, I count only one British Isle, where did the second one come from? I agree with what you said. You've a funny way of phrasing things. I agree with every word. The Catholic church and the royals are just opposing mafia family's, very well established at this point because they've both been doing it for so long. You feel the same way about the royals that I do about the church. We had what you might call a quiet revolution over here in recent years, by waking up and thinking for ourselves, and telling the Vatican where it can stick it. As for Trump, I can't even take him seriously enough to hate him. He's beyond my contempt. He's such a complete and utter buffoon. He's like a caricature of.....well, himself really. I'll have lost all faith in Americans if they elect him for a second term.

lmfao! Aw man, you're a riot. Yeah it's been awhile mate. I was off the site for a time, focusing on my studies. lol myself and Mike were not so much gay bashing Al, but rather, bashing on the social justice warriors who keep fucking ruining our favourite TV shows with their PC garbage. So I take it that like Mike, you're a republican and want to see the monarchy abolished? The Irish finally came to their senses and told the RC church to fuck off with itself. I couldn't be happier!

I wouldn`t say Phil the Greek is much like Trump myself. At least Trump earned his own money unlike Phil, his money like the rest of the royal parasites comes from the hard working British taxpayer. I do agree with you regarding the royals..They serve about as much point as wings on a tent.I`d love to see Britain become a republic, but the whole rancid system is geared and indeed created to keep the staus quo. That being the parasites at the top of the pyramid. Have good week :)

All I can do is laugh at most of your message, because as you know, I don’t like talking politics. It’ll just get me into an ongoing fight with folks who really like Trump, and I don’t have the time, but mostly…..I just like some folks that really like him, and sometimes all that political talk can hurt friendships. That being said, I’m right there with you, and pretty much agree with everything you say, and if given a ream of paper, could add about 500 things to your list. I call them “curtains”, and yes, I’ve bought them before. I just bought some new ones for my classroom at the beginning of the year. I have two doors with floor to ceiling windows, and then a window itself from floor to ceiling. They have blinds, but I’m used to putting curtains over the blinds. Same with our home. If you can’t find ones that you like, or the correct size, you can always have them made. This is what my parents have always done. Growing up in our homes, we always had blinds, but they were always made by a seamstress. They’ll come in and measure the windows themselves.
