Description
Ontario) and Montreal without any assistance. “There was a lot of saber rattling going on,” said John R. Grodzinski, a history professor at the Royal Military College of Canada, who specializes in the War of 1812.Yet despite its population advantage, the United States had only about 12,000 men in uniform, including “too many incompetent officers and too many raw, untrained recruits,” explained Donald R. Hickey, a history professor at Wayne State College and author of various books on the War of 1812. A number of other factors also favored Canada at the war’s outset. For one thing, the British controlled the Great Lakes and were therefore better able to move troops and supplies. Moreover, they received support from Canadians, who many Americans falsely believed would welcome them as liberators, and from Native American tribes worried about U.S. expansionism. “The USA was woefully unprepared,” Hickey said. “Plus, the logistical challenges of waging war on a distant frontier were daunting if not insuperable.”

When U.S. General William Hull assembled a force of about 2,000 men and led them to Detroit, the jumping-off point for an intended assault on nearby Fort Malden in Upper Canada, the British found out about his plans by seizing a schooner with his baggage and papers on it. To make matters worse for Hull, about 200 Ohio militiamen refused to go beyond American territory. The general nonetheless remained confident. On July 12, 1812, he took his men across the Detroit River and into Canada, where he immediately issued a written proclamation telling inhabitants that they would “be emancipated from tyranny and oppression.” “Had I any doubt of eventual success I might ask your assistance, but I do not,” Hull declared. “I come prepared for every contingency.”

These words proved immediately laughable. Hull briefly laid siege to Fort Malden but soon withdrew after warriors under the leadership of Shawnee chief Tecumseh intercepted his supply train. British commander Isaac Brock then chased the Americans back across the river and began launching cannon fire at Fort Detroit from the Canadian side. Brock arranged for a bogus document to reach the Americans that told of large numbers of Native Americans approaching Detroit.

Wow! Someone is in a pissy mood. Why do you think I dismissed what you said as unbelievable? Because I put a question mark after my inquiry? That’s what I do when I have a question. I didn’t put the name of the place that you live in (in that spot) because I didn’t know if you’d want people knowing where you live. I mean you DID go by “Greg” for well over 5 years on both Upload and YT, because you didn’t want people knowing your real name. I did it for your privacy, just as I ask that you do the same for mine sometimes. And of course I can grasp the idea of a 3D picture. I’m not an idiot, but it’s not YOUR kitchen, and no one’s actual kitchen looks like a muted 3D rendering vacant of life. That being said, I DID tell you in my reply to your email that it looks nice. As a matter of fact, here’s my copy/pasted reply, “Ahhh, okay, that'll look nice once it's done. I like the sliding glass doors off the kitchen. That'll be really nice! “ SO….MY message to you was truly interest on my part, taking a part in your life, but yours back to me……..well “condescending” is only a part of it. BTW, we don’t have a solar farm where I live, here in sunny Florida, and I live in a much larger town than you.

A Solar Energy farm in (the place that you live)? Uhhh, are you not at home? Don't get mad at me if I can't remember. I thought you had went out of town, but now I see you aren't going until later. Hope you didn't mess your car up or I'll hear the cussin' and fussin' over here. Nope, the kitchen isn't easy to see, or comprehend how it'll look in your house, so I'll wait for the finished 'real' product.

Yes, dear, you did send me Christmas hugs, and no, I didn't send them back, because it would have been the second time that I did so. I sent them to you first, and 'you' were responding to mine. So this image as your background is a computer generated image. It's still kind of hard to imagine. I think you should just email the pic when y'all have completed the project. I would like to see it....a before and after even.

AL!!! Before you use "y'all", let me know so I can tell you how to use it properly. We've had this discussion before. It's a contraction for 'you all', so use it in that context. You use all of your cussin' and fussin' in the correct way though. Okay, so let me get this straight.....you have a light in the ceiling that isn't fitting properly, so you put a Christmas decoration over it to hide it? But wouldn't that just accentuate things? So now you have a Christmas decoration hanging from the ceiling? I believe that's a little more odd than the light fixture being loose.
