Description

Doyle Bramhall II live at Eric Clapton's Crossroad festival. Featuring Gary Clark Jr. Doyle is a mighty fine guitar player. TBH Gary Clark doesn't do it, for me, to each his own. His father Doyle Bramhall is, was (RIP) a drummer, a childhood friend of Stevie Ray Vaughan, he wrote songs for Stevie, my fave is "Life by the drop" about his friendship with SRV. When Bramhall was 18, he toured with Stevie Ray's brother Jimmie Vaughan in the band the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

He co-founded the blues rock band Arc Angels with Charlie Sexton and Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm section, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon. At one time Eric Clapton and Roger Waters wanting him to go on the road with them. He did. Also played with Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Derek Trucks and so on. May 22 and 23rd-2023 , he performed at the tribute concert for Jeff Beck. Bramhall plays with his instrument strung upside-down. He plays left-handed, but strung upside-down. This gives his playing a unique sound because he bends the strings by pulling them downwards rather than upwards, the customary approach. Anyway one of my favorite guitar players.
