Pot is non-addicting, responsible for no auto accidents, basically the only negative effects, if U can call them such, are the munchies and laxadasical feeling. And it really hurts no physical organs, right ? In fact it DOES have medicinal uses - (I used to be a nurse). There is really no better remedy for nausea than pot. And you can NOT overdose on it (like heroine and fackin' cocaine, etc), its impossible. If they wanna make something illegal, how 'bout alcohol? Don't get me wrong i enjoy an occasional beer, but how many thousands of lives are lost each year from drunken drivers, liver sirhoisis, alcohol induced suicide etc? Myself i have not smoked pot in 12 years cuz i have really bad asthma, but let's get our priorities straight. :) The only reason it was not legalized before this is cuz the gov't had to figure out how to tax it and control it. Now that they have figured out how to do that (33% tax!!), its legal.
