American Department Store chain Montgomery Ward fell out of favor with consumers, and following many years of unprofitable sales, entered into Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in 1997, closing 250 stores in a desperate bid to remain operational. This commercial was advertised in territories Montgomery Ward would no longer be operating in.

This commercial was advertised in territories Montgomery Ward would no longer be operating in.

Ultimately, even a massive overhaul plan and a name change to just "Wards" was unsuccessful. Montgomery Ward would announce a total liquidation in first week of 2001, and cease all operations by May of the same year, ending a retail empire that lasted 129 years from it's inception in 1872.
