I imagine it's a custom thing although I'm pretty sure Fender makes an Yngwie Malmsteen signature white Stratocaster that comes scalloped. Probably pretty spendy. Malmsteen showed up on the scene in the early 80's in bands like Steeler and Alcatraz with all of his strats scalloped. Ya gotta know what yer doing playing a scalloped neck. I mean, think about it.... now that wood area underneath the string isn't flat, it's a valley. You press or push etc. too hard and that string's gonna go down farther than before sending the note sharp or better said "sharper" than ever before etc. It's a "touch" or "feel" thing with these guys. I've heard Yngwie say it allows him to "grab" onto more of the string. I've also heard comments from people that have tried it hoping it would help their speed or whatever and.... nope hehe... it doesn't. But still, it'd be fun to try one.

This is amazing! How the hell can people pick that fast? I have always found my picking to be an issue when attempting this type of music, or even basic thrash. I would need some serious speed or a ton of Jolt Cola, lol! Nice find!

Yeah man, Joe's incredible. A buddy turned me on to him 10 yrs ago or so. He's one of the best of the Yngwie Malmsteen clones. And actually a bit cleaner on some things but there's only one Yngwie hehe.. Notice he's (Like Yngwie) got his neck scalloped. I've never played a guitar like that, must be pretty weird at first. He's not really adjusting the volume per se but he's switching back and forth from the bridge pickup and the neck pickup with that 5-way switch. Amazing..

Holy crap, you're right! I thought he was adjusting the volume he is moving so fast. As far as the scalloped neck goes, I have never even heard of such a thing. I just looked it up. Wow, that is a total trip! I want to try to play one now. Is it a cust...

Wow, that is a total trip! I want to try to play one now. Is it a custom thing? I have never seen one in any store like that, although many of my local shops do not carry ESP much. Totally awesome!
