Well, YouTube is "saving" piles of money by cutting it's content creators livelihoods down to peanuts, while leaving them no recourse through their system. Considering the "corporate culture" that's been rampant at YouTube for the better part of a decade, I'm sure they are celebrating this new layout as their "compensation" to the users for taking up to 90% of creators former revenue.
The really sad thing about it is that content creators will just tighten their belts and suffer through it- YouTube takes their money, all the while knowing they've got nowhere else to go. I've heard many comparisons of the current YT situation to that of an abusive relationship.
