Description

On this, the anniversary of the Warsaw uprising, the people of Poland took up arms and began a heroic but ultimately doomed effort to unseat the occupying armies of Nazi Germany, all without the assistance of either the Soviet Union or Western allies of the United States or Great Britain. For more than 60 days, the Poles fought street-to-street, facing ruthless retribution from the Nazis. The heroism of the Polish freedom fighters is, sadly, mostly unknown beyond the borders of Poland today.
