A Seconds From Disaster documentary exploring the construction and resulting disaster of the Vajont Dam in Monte Toc, Italy. On October 9th, 1963, following months of ignored warnings about geological instability, a landslide poured down the mountainside into the reservoir, which displaced roughly 1/3 of the resevoir's water over the top of the dam in a massive tsunami wave. The 50 million cubic feet of water swept down the valley, destroying everything in it's path in minutes, killing 1,910 people....

The disaster forced governments and private fimrs around the world to rethink dam construction, placement, and management to prevent such disasters in the future.
