This version is from the album :Thank You, is a greatest hits collection released in 2003. The song's chord structure from Plush was inspired by Robert DeLeo's love of ragtime music. And its lyrics were loosely based on a newspaper article Scott Weiland had read about a girl who had been found dead after having been kidnapped in the early 1990s. Weiland had also said that the song's lyrics are a metaphor for a failed relationship. This acoustic version was recorded on the MTV show Headbangers Ball in 1992.
This is considered one of Weiland's greatest vocal performances.
While initially rising to fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s, further releases from the band expressed a variety of influences, including psychedelic rock, glam rock, bossa nova and classic rock.
Sadly, Weiland , by then, had developed a drug addiction. And was kicked out of the band. He later became the singer form the supergroup Velvet Revolver. Then reunited with STP , till that failed again due to his drug addiction. He went solo after that. On December 3, 2015, he was found dead , due to an accidental overdose of alcohol, pills, and cocaine ,on his tour bus in Minnesota. he was 48 years old. He was promoting his solo album, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts. Not his best, but a good album.
