So, we got back last night and slept like logs, though Joe is gone again for a couple more days. Lol, those cards are cute. I've seen them before, and for the most part, they're very accurate....especially the one about kids and their extracurriculars. Goodness, I used to see SO MANY parents pushing their kids to do all kinds of "extra stuff" after school, I would feel bad for the kiddos. A little is good. A lot is not, and I would have kids in my class going to soccer (which means weekends too), after school piano, theater, and Spanish enrichment all at once. And THAT that I just described was indeed one of my students schedule...along with school. What they needed was time to play....and play with other kids so they could 1) have fun 2) work out any problems that will inevitably arise when playing with their peers (a lost skill desperately needed to meet developmental benchmarks, which unfortunately are now often skipped in today's technological age)....I'll stop, but I could write a book on that, 3) get exercise, and 4) meet other friends through the friends they're playing with...expand their world with REAL people, not just online faceless people where they're grooming themselves into becoming future keyboard warriors.....and the last one relates back to num. 2 and a huge reason it's so hard to manage classrooms nowadays. ~ Hope you're doing well....all my best to Tammy. :) Oh, p.s....it's Steve Perry's birthday!!
