To make matters worse for Hull, about 200 Ohio militiamen refused to go beyond American territory. The general nonetheless remained confident. On July 12, 1812, he took his men across the Detroit River and into Canada, where he immediately issued a written proclamation telling inhabitants that they would “be emancipated from tyranny and oppression.” “Had I any doubt of eventual success I might ask your assistance, but I do not,” Hull declared. “I come prepared for every contingency.”
These words proved immediately laughable. Hull briefly laid siege to Fort Malden but soon withdrew after warriors under the leadership of Shawnee chief Tecumseh intercepted his supply train. British commander Isaac Brock then chased the Americans back across the river and began launching cannon fire at Fort Detroit from the Canadian side. Brock arranged for a bogus document to reach the Americans that told of large numbers of Native Americans approaching Detroit.

Al….you and your politics. I’m not sure why you never ran for some type of political office. I don’t really think that 80% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, but 100% of us are living with an idiot in control, though apparently 50ish% don’t realize it, my parents included. Lol. They love him. I don’t get, but his supporters definitely back him. Anyway, that’s all for my political views. You know how I am with that. Hope you’re doing well and enjoying your newly renovated home. My parents are.

Sure, Smokey Robinson is good! Ha, I’ve not been on MJ either. Well, that’s not true, I’ve visited, but haven’t had a chance to hang out very much. Yeah, I don’t know diddly about Brexit, but I hear it spoken of a lot lately. Goodness, you know I don’t like blanketed statements. I don’t think ALL Irish hate British, just maybe some. I have a friend who would say that about Americans and British….thinking we burn British flags on July 4th. Nope, only some of us do. *kidding* Yes, part Irish here…..and supposedly Scottish. I thought you knew that though. Just about everyone here is from there…..somewhere. Although I’m also part Native American as well. It’s hidden from sight though. My grandmother had very N.A. features though.
